Grant uses financing not linked to costs: pre-defined sums are paid on EFSA acceptance of delivered work, are not linked to actual action costs, and do not require partner co-financing, estimated budgets or timesheets. This is not a salary or payroll reimbursement schedule.

The applicant, or consortium as a whole, must demonstrate organisational expertise in basic/applied scientific research relevant to food microbiology, food technology and biological-hazard risk assessment/management, plus project formulation/management, technical/scientific reporting, monitoring deliverables and collaboration with multiple partners. Evidence includes at least one relevant ongoing or completed research project conducted by the organisation within the previous seven years, with dates, title/topic, task/responsibility details and public result links if available.

Maximum FPA duration four years; each later specific agreement has its own maximum of eight months, so FPA length does not describe individual service duration.
